    My cat asked for it

About 20 years ago, I had an orange cat, that I would give the water oout of the tuna fish can every day. Every time he heard the can opener, he would come beg for the tuna water. One day, my boyfriend at the time, asked me to open a can of spinach, drain it, and bring it to him. Well, my cat heard the can opener and was begging for the water. I kept telling him it's not what he wants, then he reached up and scratched my leg thinking

I wasn't going to give him the water. I said alright and poured the spinach water in his bowl and dove into it and came out sputtering and gave me a look that meant I should be ded. I said I told you you wouldn't like it. I gave the can of spinach to my boyfriend then he asked for another one. My cat heard the can opener again and thought it was tuna. This time he was even more aggressive and was really scratching my leg, so I gave him the spinach water again, and he dove into again and came up

dwells2301 • 2mo ago I had a cockatiel that was my mom's first. She would give Fred cheese occasionally. Fred had a chair in the kitchen and was hanging out while I was cutting a cantaloupe. Fred thought it was cheese and yelled until I gave him some. Before that day, I didn't know a bird could give me a dirty look.

    • Prof1959 2mo ago Similar story My gf's cats were quite used to the can opener sound. The older cat knew that if she wasn't invited, there's no need to run in, but the kitten did not have that patience. We opened a can of green beans for a dinner side dish, and in comes the kitten, yowling. I held the can over to him so he could sniff it, but it did not deter him. So I put some green beans down for him. And then he actually ate them. Probably not his favorite meal, but he out-MC'd my MC by eati

pixeequeen84 2mo ago My current cat has some..quirks. She likes tomatoes and avocados. Can't store them on the counter like normal people, so we use the microwave (aka the cat proof box) as storage. I also had a pair of black cats (sisters) years ago who loved bread and raw potatoes. Would open the cupboard to get at the bag of potatoes.

Turbulent_Concept134 2mo ago My orange also loooooves tuna juice, but not the tuna. Go figure. However, I can prove he has at least 1 braincell. He's learned that Dill pickles + Mayonnaise = TUNA JUICE!!!!! When I make tuna salad, if he sees the dill pickle jar AND mayo, he knows tuna juice is coming. He doesn't care if it's only the pickles or only the mayo, it must be both. He's mildly interested in all other cans being opened, just in case it's tuna but doesn't get excited.

StrictShelter971 2mo ago My wife had a black cat that I had named "Nuggets" because he was not going to be allowed to keep his! But anyhow, his favorite food was dill pickles. He would harass you until you gave in. Unless you were not looking, then he would try to sneak a bit.

Pyrovixen • 2mo ago The real moral of this story is your boyfriend likes gross canned spinach out of the can.

katznpiano 2mo ago Unrelated to tuna or spinach water, but back when I used to wear daily disposable contact lenses, my cat (Zaida, tabby, currently around almost 10 years old) liked to drink the saline solution from the packages. Every morning she would hear me get into the cupboard and come running to the bathroom meowing loudly, and jump on the bathroom counter, impatient for her daily dose of salt water.

Forsaken-Might-8016 2mo ago I learned not to say, "Trust me. You won't like it!" Said that to Scooter about cantaloupe. Said that to Cuddles about asparagus. Said that to Shadow about orange juice. To be honest, he only drank it twice. He was a stray I adopted; and he was trying to "fit in" with my other 3 including sharing some human food.

badpandacat ⚫ 2mo ago Edited 2mo ago That is prime orange cat. My orange boy forgot to go to the "brains" line and ended up with 2 smart brain cells but a ton of "sweet" brain cells.

250MCM • 2mo ago Decades ago had a German Shepard who I was throwing pieces of cookies at, he would catch the cookie, consume it, & wait for more, every so often I would toss him a small chunk of Sheetrock, he would catch it, decide it was not what he wanted & drop it, then wait for another goody. Had a cat that could hear a can opener penetrate a lid clear across the house & come running.

Gifted_GardenSnail • 2mo ago I just let my cat smell everything. She's NOT a fan of onions lol I said alright and poured the spinach water in his bowl and dove into it Not telling you how to live your life but cat bowls are way too shallow for diving practise. You should maybe try a pool or something

TheFilthyDIL • 2mo ago Cats are hardwired to respond to the sound of a can-opener. Tiny kittens that have NEVER been fed anything out of a can will come running at the sound.

Don TreadOnMelMADuck •2mo ago This made my day. I also give my cats the tuna water. Fortunately, they tend to sniff, first, but still.

Sorry-Government920 • 2mo ago Until their cat food went to pull tab lids are cats always would come running when they heard the can opener
